Nectar emerged as a movement based performance project piecing together my experiences observing insects in a magical garden space during my first art residency thanks to the wonderful Art Produce. The performance offered a whimsical evening of dance on a blissful summer evening involving an observer-led stroll in the garden to observe the 6 bugs engaging in improvised movement inspired by their creature character accompanied by live music by Ethan Eldred on the cello. Following this component, the observers were invited to sit to witness a choreographic component with endless movement rooted in joy, play, and admiration for creatures of all kinds. A brief poetry interlude, abstract web building out of various silk and yarn scraps, live art of various mediums, Nectar became my first evening length work as a director & choreographer.
